Military Grade 5375PPI OLED Screen Released from French Company, it’s Very Small.

When people think of displays with a resolution of 2560×2048 they might imagine something measuring 30 inches or more, God forbid it be some underwhelming massive screen with an abysmal pixel density such as todays HD TV’s.

MicroOLED has created a 4.5 megapixel display with just such the specifications and it fits right in front of your eye. Its new 0.61 inch display is powered by efficient OLED technology that allows it to create incredibly small pixels to achieve such high pixel density in less than an inch of area. This will allow them to create high resolution color (1280×1024) and black and white (2560×2048) viewfinders and head mounted displays.

The display is being built to meet military requirements and is being developed for medical professionals, for viewfinders in professional camera equipment and for night vision applications.

Billy the Kid portrait fetches $2.3m at Denver auction

From bbc.co.uk “  The tintype – an early form of photo using metal plates – is believed to have been taken in 1879 or 1880 in Fort Sumner, New Mexico. It depicts the gunfighter in rumpled clothes and a hat, gazing at the camera and holding a Winchester rifle. The tintype was bought by private collector William Koch. It went for some six times the estimate – making it the most expensive piece ever sold at Brian Lebel’s Annual Old West Show & Auction, said auction spokeswoman Melissa McCracken. “

New Japanese Pop Idol – Not Real

From singularityhub ” This past Sunday, Ezaki Glico, the candy company which aired the commercial, confirmed what many of AKB 48’s fans had come to suspect: Aimi Eguchi wasn’t real. The new group member, it turns out, was a computer-generated composite of the real band members. Her pretty face was actually made up of the “best features” of six other members: her eyes, nose, mouth, hair/body, face outline and eyebrows were not flesh-and-blood, but cut-and-paste. “

Robert Alvarado Photography

From juxtapozRobert Alvarado has a taste for something sweet, erotically inclined with a certain, tattooed, cotton candy contemporary edge. “I have always appreciated the female form and, growing up in the late 50′s early 60′s, I can recall looking at all the magazines with illustrations of women. I have basically turned those memories into the art form you see in my images today”. ”

J.K. Rowling Announces Pottermore

From pottermore.com ” In the new website, the storyline will be brought to life with sumptuous newly-commissioned illustrations and interactive ‘Moments’ through which you can navigate, starting with the first book, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s (Sorcerer’s) Stone. On entering, you choose a magic username and begin your experience. As you move through the chapters, you can read and share exclusive writing from J.K. Rowling, and, just as Harry joins Hogwarts, so can you. You visit Diagon Alley, get sorted into a house, cast spells and mix potions to help your house compete for the House Cup.
At a press conference at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, Rowling revealed some key features of the website. In an announcement which will thrill fans, she described how she has brought to life both the Sorting Hat and Ollivanders experiences from her books for the first time on Pottermore, by revealing the questions asked by the Sorting Hat – which places newcomers into their Hogwarts houses according to their characteristics – and the magic behind the Wand Chooser – which finds the right wand for each user from over 33,000 possible combinations. She also revealed glimpses of the new information she has provided on some of the best-loved characters. ”

Let The Arts Roam

From I Am Los Angeles ” El Mac and Retna are street artists, born in LA. They use building walls as blank canvases for their imagery, and the duo has collaborated to create murals all over the world. El Mac and Renta have very different styles, and have been collaborating the last few years. They combine their artistic forces in a specific way: El Mac creates huge lifelike portraits and Retna, calligraphic brushwork and decoration. The result is striking imagery that is unique and recognizable as theirs. It’s not uncommon for street art fans and documentarians to gather to watch the progression of an El Mac and Retna work in progress. ”
