Mega-Chub Man in Street Fighter X Tekken?

Waking up should be a grand act full of coughing and butt scratching.
This morning included a slap to the face from Capcom’s announcement of 5
new characters for  Street Fighter X Tekken, but for the Playstation3 and Vita. The character list just adds to the sting.

Mega Man

Pac Man

Cole (Infamous)

Kuro/Toro (Sony mascots)

Focusing on which characters matter, the men come to Street Fighter X Tekken in unconventional fighting form. Mega Man is all grown up sporting his original US box art look and proudly strutting a beer gut. Pac Man jumps into the fight riding a wooden robot and shooting out to bash enemies with his ball like body. Sure people who own Sony products have the other two, or three, but who really cares. Cole doesn’t have anime eyes and suffering from girl problems and the cats aren’t drunk. Why would this grand news leave a mark on my face? I own a 360.  Microsoft, if you are not going to give me a real Metal Gear to play least at least make Mega “Gut” Man a playable character. Even as DLC, Please?

Ferris Bueller’s Day Off 2 ?

This may be a teaser for a new Ferris Bueller trailer that will air during Super Bowl 46 or it may just be a teaser for another Super Bowl ad!

Couldn’t have said it better myself

I tried to come up with a poignant statement for this post. But then I realized what the hell.

MadCatz Announces Two New Headsets

If looks aren’t what sell you on peripheral devices you may miss out on the new offering of MadCatz CYBORG headsets.  If on the other hand their past products and spec sheets are any indication the newly released Primer Wireless Headset for the Xbox360 and its up coming sister product the F.R.E.Q.5 for PC and Mac are sure to please. Both headset are priced at 100$

The Primer features 5.8GHZ wireless technology as well as 40mm neodymium drivers. It has a two tone black and orange color scheme with a removable mic and external volume knobs for the sound and mic separately.

The CYBORG stylized F.R.E.Q.5 also includes “on ear controls” and a removable mic in addition to 50mm stereo drivers. It has both a 3.5mm jack cord and one with a USB connection that can be switched depending on what kind of connection you prefer. The marketing touts the 3.5mm jack as a way to plug in to mobile devices but users of dedicated sound cards on the PC will appreciate this as their hardware natively supports a 3.5mm connection.

The reason I believe the upcoming F.R.E.Q.5 uses 50mm drivers rather than 40mm is due to partly in fact to keeping the price equal for both unites. So in a since you may be sacrificing a bit of sound quality for the luxury of a wireless connection and battery life on the 360 side of things.

According to their release “the F.R.E.Q.5 Pro Gaming Headset for PC, (is) expected to ship Spring 2012. . .” while the Primer should be shipping already. If you don’t feel like waiting you can preorder the F.R.E.Q.5 now.

Qbala’s first video shoot

With camera’s rolling Kalhie Qbala makes her entrance into the party. She’s got swagger like she owns the place, a blunt in her hand and every word nailed down tight to the backing track for “My State of Dementia”. In front of the camera Qbala has the confidence and poise of any veteran musician. It’s like she’s made multiple music videos and maybe even had a reoccurring role on some police drama. I wish I could say the same for myself but with Hodi’s Half Note supplying two kegs of New Belgium’s new seasonal beer Snow Day and a Bacardi Girl anchoring this party down, I might have lost some of my poise. Luckily for me my beautiful girlfriend came with and made up for everything I was lacking. Everyone in the crowd looked great and brought the ruckus to the video. Even local rappers Mr. B and Aklock made an appearance at the party.

I love Kalhie’s work ethic and that she spared nothing to create a classic Hip Hop video that represented her. New Belgium, the different locations and even the Bacardi girl carrying a lit up bottle of Bacardi, all solidified the classy Fort Collins vibe, while DJ Dominic Deadbeat and scenes like the smoked out room or the confrontation with another girl, made this video classic. No matter how many takes were needed for any scene, Kalhie finished like a determined basketball player, straight to the hole. Just killing it the whole night, she never lost the energy she seems to rock daily in life.

Kalhie expressed that her lyrics represent who she is and that Fort Collins is a big part of that. She took the idea for the video straight from the lyrics of “My State of Dementia” and wanted to show off Fort Collins in the process. She tried to incorporate everything the town has offered to her, from local businesses to the many unique people. The sweet custom bike Kalhie rides around old town was made by her friend Adam. In fact out of the five locations used for the video( Pizza Casbah, Hodi’s Half Note, College Ave, her house and a private residence) the party scene at the private residence seems to be the only location lacking any sentimental notation. Kalhie keeps a strong connection to the owners and past coworkers of Pizza Casbah, right now everyone she lives with has worked at the restaurant at some point. Hodi’s Half Note, a local venue and what Kalhie describes as her home court is were you’ll find her regularly playing shows as well as kicking suckers out (she’s a bouncer there).

Keeping everything local Kalhie hired website www.hyphytek.net to shoot the music video. It’s been fairly recent that the site has been getting involved in the local music scene, hosting a free download by local band ‘Press’, as well as videos and photo

s of multiple other bands. The music portion of Hyphytek.net seems to represent a visual catalog at this point, done for the love of music and filming. Hyphytek founder Kevin Lawley has already filmed Qbala’s live performances multiple times. He’s been a long time fan and jumped at the chance to shoot her first music video.  This was their first music video but Kalhie pointed out that Kevin and his partner Andrew were incredibly professional and helpful in the creative process that happens on set, helping to find different angles, perspectives and all the while keeping the camera’s rolling.  I was able to catch up with Kalhie and find out some of her inspiration and ideas for the video. Our conversation was great and I ended up obtaining way more information than I needed for this piece. Please check back in the near future for a video interview with Qbala. From their mouths, really is the best way to learn about your favorite artist! Click here to see Qbala’s music video “My State of Dementia”

Cirque Voltaire Deux

Walking into The Oriental Theater I felt an odd transformation happen at the doors as though I was entering another time and world. The Oriental was not just a theater on this night, as it had been transformed into Cirque Voltaire Deux a circus/museum displaying the oddities and genius of The Mad Tatters and the many other great artists that had joined in for the festivities! Definitely under dressed for the evening I felt lost in a crowd of corsets, fishnets, vests and top hats but enthralled with the dark beauty that surrounded me. The crowd with their inspired attire made the occasion even more vivid and only hinted at what was in store for the night. To begin The Mad Tatters displayed some of their inspiration for the event along with various other artist and vendors in an art showcase. Set before us was a beautiful glimpse into an odd world that seemed to be coming to life throughout The Oriental Theater. A world that beckoned the audience to the theater as Cirque Voltaire Deux was about to begin.

Fadey's Freak Show

Dr. B. Zurk one half of The Mad Tatters began the show with some musical shenanigans and chaos. With a couple brass horns in chase, he ran around the stage and audience in his top hat making an entertaining scene, even riding a tricycle. A great beginning to an evening that was full of surprises, starting with the Fort Collins group Fadey’s Freak Show and their many amazing presentations of human endurance. One man walked and jumped on glass without so much as cringe, while his partner laying on a bed of nails allowed three people to jump atop his belly! ( See video here).

Chalita Bang Bang

Pretty crazy but not as big a surprise as the bearded woman or the monkey Chalita Bang Bang, one in the same each changed into a beautiful burlesque dancer right before our eyes( See video here).

Lynx the Animator

The magic for the evening came from Lynx the Animator a street magician with a sense of humor and a foul mouth. With some amazing tricks, he proved his magic wasn’t out weighed by his mouth and he even had a minion that trolled the audience for volunteers.

All through out the night an amazing mix of  burlesque dancing took place, every performance ending in beauty but none beginning the same. Two of the dancers started as demented dolls dressed in polka dot dresses, cutting the  heads from other dolls with a guillotine. An interesting image that slowly built into an incredible balancing burlesque act( See video here)! The same two dancers came back with a third and to raise the stakes the group took the show to the air, each performing intense aerial maneuvers that seemed effortless and flowed smooth and sweet as any dance but just above our heads.

Aerial Act

The Mad Tatters out did themselves and topped it of with two outstanding bands. First was Champagne Charlie a nice group of hooligans purveying their infectious, jazz, dark cabarette to the crowd, they kept the dance floor moving and everyone’s feet stomping. With a dark style and songs like Billy the Burning Business man Champagne Charlie was the perfect group of mortals to open for The Widow’s Bane and a great choice by The Mad Tatters who couldn’t have chosen two better bands to represent Cirque Voltaire Deux.

The headliners for the evening, The Widow’s Bane immersed the audience in their world, with stories from their beginnings aboard the devils ship and their escape, to experiences along their path. Such as an encounter with a snake charming hussy that kills one of their band mates, before joining the band. With such an existence it’s no surprise that they could produce a song like “Burns”, it chills one to the bones with its message to mortals and dark chorus. As The Widow’s Bane ended their set and the night came to an end, the world I enjoyed all night slipped away as I left the Oriental Theater. Yes, The Mad Tatters did a great job on Cirque Voltaire Deux, with such a great line up, we can’t wait to see what’s next!

Nicktoons MLB Predicts the Texas Rangers Will Claim The World Series

SpongeBob, Fanboy, Ren, Stimpy and More Join the Rangers and Cardinals Rosters with Stunning Results!

NEW YORK- October 26, 2011 – With three games in the bag, the Texas Rangers will take on the St. Louis Cardinals again in Game 6 of the World Series. The outcome of this game could clinch the series for Texas, unless St. Louis can pull out a win and force Game 7. Who will be the victor? A simulation run by 2K Play’s Nicktoons MLB predicts that with some animated help, the Rangers will triumph, 6 to 5, in Game 6 to win their first Commissioner’s Trophy as World Series champions.

In the simulation, both teams were given a boost by the addition of top Nickelodeon Nicktoons talent. Stepping into the dugout with the Rangers was SpongeBob SquarePants, ZIM, Fanboy, Katara and the indomitable Powdered Toast Man. Not to be outdone, the Cardinals were joined by the animated power-players Patrick Star, GAZ, Chum Chum, Aang and Stimpy. Since rain is forecasted for Game 6 in St. Louis, the Nicktoons MLB game was moved for precautionary reasons to the more stable, albeit freezing, climate of Frosty Freeze Field. Among the game-changing highlights:

  • Cardinals’ CF Jon Jay hit a frozen rope and legged out a triple for the first hit of the game in the 2nd inning and later scored.
  • In the 4th inning, Albert Pujols mashed a two-run homer off SpongeBob for a 3-0 St. Louis lead.
  • Rangers’ slugger Mike Napoli drove Stimpy’s stinkball into the gap, scoring ZIM in the 5th.
  • Michael Young slid under the tag attempt of Aang in the 6th, later scoring to take the lead.
  • Katara went down swinging with the bases loaded as catcher Yadier Molina called for a fastball to end the Rangers’ threat.
  • In the bottom of the 9th, Adrian Beltre’s miraculous two-out diving catch strands Patrick Star on third base and secures the Rangers’ first-ever World Series!
